20-year-old Nekede poly student commits suicide

A 20-year-old student of the Federal Polytechnic Nekede, Owerri, committed suicide by hanging at Umuofocha, Umudibia Autonomous community in Imo State

According to an eyewitness, the deceased identified as Izu Nnawuihe was having a discussion with his mother and younger sister when he suddenly excused himself to go to the toilet at about 2 pm, on Sunday, July 31.

The ND 2 Electrical Electronics Engineering student was later found hanging on a rope tied to a plank on the roof of the ceiling by his younger sister who had gone to give him his phone which was ringing after he left it behind when he initially excused himself.

According to the witness, the girl alerted the mother who raised the alarm that attracted other people and passersby. On getting to the scene, a bottle of hypo chemical was found by the side of the toilet alongside his lifeless body.
