OAU, UNILAG face court interim order on 2025/26 admissions

The Federal High Court in Enugu has ordered the suspension of admission processes for the 2025/2026 academic session at the University of Lagos (UNILAG), Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), and the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).

The order, issued on Tuesday by Justice A.T. Segun-Bello, followed an ex-parte motion filed by five candidates—Chibuzor Success, Oyeleye Zainab Ayomide, Adedeji John Samuel, Monsura Aliat Aduragbem, and Bassey Daniel Nsikak—on behalf of other applicants who sat for the 2025 post-UTME examinations in the two universities.

The applicants requested interim injunctions to restrain UNILAG, OAU, and JAMB from releasing, approving, uploading, or finalising any admission list for the academic session.

In his ruling, Justice Segun-Bello stated that the matter presented “veritable and triable issues” requiring both parties to be heard. He subsequently ordered all parties to maintain the status quo until the substantive motion is determined.

The interim order effectively halts all admission activities in UNILAG, OAU, and JAMB, pending further deliberations.

The case has been adjourned to October 28, 2025, for hearing.
