Federal University of Technology, Minna NERD clearance for NYSC mobilisation 2026

The Federal University of Technology, Minna (FUTMINNA) has introduced a compulsory requirement for all graduating students and prospective National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members, following a directive from the Federal Executive Council (FEC).

In an official circular, the university stated that graduates seeking mobilisation for the NYSC must obtain clearance from the Nigeria Education Repository and Databank (NERD). The requirement takes effect from the 2026 NYSC Batch “A” onward; only graduates with valid NERD clearance slips will be processed for mobilisation.

FUT Minna says the change means a graduate must present a NERD clearance slip before the university processes NYSC mobilisation.

The university explained that the step supports a federal move to centralise academic records and improve data integrity within Nigeria’s education system (the circular links it to record handling and verification).

The circular targets:

graduating students of FUTMINNA, and
graduates who plan to join NYSC (from 2026 Batch “A” upward).
So, if mobilisation is the target, NERD clearance becomes part of the checklist.

NERD Clearance Procedure (As Stated)
Graduating students are required to begin the process on the NERD onboarding portal using either of these links:

NERD onboarding portal on NED
ESMAT enrolment page
Applicants must complete a preliminary upload of their thesis or project work. Then, the system checks submitted details; after verification, candidates receive a link to upload the thesis or project. On completion, NERD issues the clearance slip.

Documents to Keep Ready
To complete the clearance process, students are expected to have these ready:

a functional email address
soft copy of thesis or project
certificate, statement of result, or letter of attestation
passport photograph
National Identification Number (NIN) slip
Where an attestation letter is requested, the university stated that students should upload their certificate or statement of result (yes, that detail is in the circular).

Signatory and Student Advice
The notice was signed by Abubakar Aliyu, Deputy Registrar, Students’ Affairs, and Focal Officer for NERD at FUT Minna.

Students are advised to comply promptly to avoid delays in the NYSC mobilisation process; a slow start can become a Delay later, and nobody wants that.
