PAAU debunks rumour of bomb found on campus

The attention of the University Management, Prince Abubakar Audu University, Anyigba, has been drawn to a rumour circulating on social media regarding a bomb allegedly placed near the University’s College of Health Sciences.

In a swift response, the Principal Officers, in collaboration with the University’s Joint Security Force comprising the Police (Led by the Area Commander, Ebri Onen), the Military (led by Major Kure), the DSS, Dekina, (led by Samuel John), the Vigilante group, the School Security, and the Man O’ War, assessed the reported venue and object. It was determined that the object in question is a hand grenade, likely misplaced by a security personnel.

In his assessment, the Area Commander of Police, Ebri Onen, clarified that the hand grenade, as found, was not harmful. He explained that the grenade, typically used for crowd control similar to tear gas, posed no threat in its current state. He emphasized that the object is not a bomb nor was it positioned to cause any harm.

Mr. Ebri Onen commended the University Management and the University’s Joint Security Force for their prompt response and security vigilance. He urged the continuation of such synergy and alertness and assured the University community of a safe and secure campus.

The University Management officially assures the entire University community that the campus is safe and that the rumour of a bomb is unfounded. The University remains committed to the safety and security of all students, staff, and visitors.
