Unizik SUG President Impeached Over Conspiracy, Abuse Of Power And Bullying

Comrade Izuchukwu Ejikeme Francis Impeached as SUG President; Vice President Onyinyechi Nwachukwu Sworn In

Comrade Francis Izuchukwu Ejikeme has been removed from his position as Students Union Government (SUG) President following an impeachment.

According to a letter signed by the Senate President of the 30th House, Ozoelom Precious Oluchukwu, and the Chief Clerk, Amagba Gloria Akuoma, the impeachment was based on several allegations. These included his instigation of a protest and facilitation of a press conference against the Acting Vice-Chancellor, Pro Chancellor, and University Governing Council, in violation of Section 39 of the SUG constitution. This section mandates that the President must secure approval from two-thirds of the entire union membership before declaring any demonstration or confrontation on behalf of the union.

Additionally, Comrade Ejikeme was accused of usurping the constitutional powers of the SUG Vice President by organizing the students’ week, in breach of Section 41(f) of the SUG constitution, among other allegations.

In a related development, the Vice President, Comrade Onyinyechi Nwachukwu, was sworn today, July 23, 2024, at the Giant House, to act and oversee the office of the SUG President.

In a letter of written by the student Senate Council, a motion was moved for the president to be impeached according to violation of Constitution Fraudulent activities and abuse of powers

NOTICE OF IMPEACHMENT OF COMR. IZUCHUKWU EJIKEME FRANCIS AS SUG PRESIDENT

To all students of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, the university authority, and the general public, We hereby notify you that Comr. Izuchukwu Francis Ejikeme has been removed from office as SUG President through the impeachment procedure, in accordance with Section 86(2) of the Constitution of the Students Union Government of Unizik (2021).

The Students Senate Council has found the impeachment panel’s findings to be in order and declares Comr. Izuchukwu Francis Ejikeme guilty as charged for the following allegations:

1. Instigation of a protest and facilitation of a press conference against the Acting Vice Chancellor, Pro-chancellor and University Governing Council, [/b]gravely violating Section 39 of the SUG Constitution which provides that the president shall not declare any demonstration (peaceful or otherwise) or direct any confrontation on behalf of the Union without prior approval of 2/3 of the entire members of the Union or the nearest whole number to the fraction.

2. [b]Usurpation of the constitutional powers of the SUG Vice president to organize the Students weeks, gravely violating Section 41(f) of the SUG Constitution.

3. Embezzlement of funds and withdrawal of funds exceeding 10,000 naira without approval by the Students’ Senate Council, gravely violating Section 98 (2) (o) of the SUG Constitution.

4. Appointment of executives in total disregard to the powers of the Students Senate Council to approve such appointments, pursuant to Section 37(k) of the SUG Constitution.

5. Abduction, bully and illegal detention of a member of the Students Senate Council, gravely violating Section 37(a) of the SUG Constitution which mandates the president to coordinate the affairs of the executive council to guarantee the safety and security of the members of the Union residing within or outside the premises of the university as much as it is practicable to make in the circumstances,

Comr. Izuchukwu Francis Ejikeme is hereby instructed to surrender all properties of the union within 24 hours and cease to parade himself as the SUG Executive President. The SUG Vice President, Comr. Onyinyechi Nwachukwu, will act as and oversee the office of the SUG

Executive President.
