As the JAMB 2024 UTME registration enters Week 5, JAMB has disclosed that about 1,442,309 candidates have so far been registered. This was contained in the weekly bulletin of the board. Prospective candidates are advised to ensure they register or complete their registration on or before the deadline (February 26th, 2024) as there may not be any extension.
Meanwhile, following the abuse that characterised the free UTME application forms for People With Disabilities ( PWD) by impersonators, who pretended to be disabled, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has amended its verification process to enable only genuine candidates with disabilities to enjoy the facility. As part of the new verification process, prospective candidates with disabilities would have to pay the recommended fee at the point of registration while the JAMB-Equal Opportunity Group(JEOG) would refund the registration fee at a later date.
In another development, a call has gone to operators of JAMB accredited CBT centres in Ekiti State to desist from engaging in overnight registration of candidates. The call was made by the State Coordinator, Ekiti State Office of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) during an unscheduled monitoring of the fourteen registration centres across the State. The Coordinator stressed that the call became imperative owing to the high level of insecurity in the country and the need to protect lives of staff and prospective candidates alike. He added that stiff penalties await any centre found guilty of such infractions.
