The leadership of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) has once again, asked the Federal Government to release the N50 billion unpaid earned allowances to theĀ universities and inter-university centers. The union made the appeal after itsĀ 43rd Regular National Executive Council meeting held in KatsinaĀ state.Ā
Mohammed Ibrahim, the SSANU National President claimed that the NEC has observed the long overdue delay in the payment of the outstanding N50 billion earned allowances and they are urging the governmentĀ to keep to their word and not to renege on their promises to avoidĀ industrial disputes in the system.
The union also called for the payment of arrears of the New National Minimum Wage for some of its members who have either been paid or were yet to be fully paid their entitlements.
Ibrahim further condemned theĀ Office of the Head of Service for interfering in the promotion ofĀ members in universities and Inter-University Centres, saying it is the primary job of theĀ Councils of Universities.
