Strike: Media personality calls on Nigerians to raise funds for ASUU, pledges N10 million

Nigerian on-air media personality, Dr. Ahamd Isah popularly called ”Ordinary President” from the Berekete family has called on well-meaning Nigerians and all political office aspirants in the forthcoming elections to raise 18 billion in two weeks to support ASUU in a bid to end the ongoing strike,

Ahmad who is the CEO of Human Rights TV/ FM said he has set the ball rolling with a N10 million contribution to the course. He called on all Presidential aspirants to contribute an equivalent of what they paid for their nomination forms so that students can return to school.

He also directed the opening of an account to achieve this and suggested that Signatories to the account should be the acting Accountant General of the federation, ASUU President & Secretary while hoping to achieve this within the next two weeks.

This, however, did not sit well with many Nigerians who maintained that it was the job of the government to cater to public universities’ needs, and raising of funds by private individuals would make the already nonchalant government lazier in discharging their statutory responsibilities
